Dr. Iryna Iliychuk is a specialist in Chinese historical linguistics and applied linguistics with extensive expertise in higher education pedagogy across in-class, online, and blended learning environments. Her research focuses on the intersection of language pedagogy, translational and cross-cultural studies, and classical Chinese literature.

Dr. Iliychuk earned her PhD in Linguistics and Applied Linguistics from Wuhan University, China, where her dissertation explored the role of the Chinese language as a tool for cultural integration. She has developed innovative teaching methodologies that blend linguistic theory with practical application, fostering student success in Chinese language learning and cultural understanding.

With over a decade of experience in teaching, Dr. Iliychuk has designed and delivered undergraduate and graduate courses in Chinese language, culture, and literature, as well as translation and interpretation. She has supervised numerous dissertations and achieved high student satisfaction rates. Her contributions to the field have been recognized through multiple national and international awards, including honors for promoting Chinese-Ukrainian cultural exchange.

Beyond academia, Dr. Iliychuk has served as a cultural advisor, TV presenter, and project leader in international collaborations, further highlighting her commitment to bridging cultures through education and language. She continues to explore innovative strategies for enhancing language learning and cross-cultural communication in an increasingly globalized world.

Dissertation: Chinese language as a tool for faster integration into Chinese society.

❖ Focus: Explored how linguistic devices facilitate cultural integration for languagelearners by decoding cultural norms expressed through language.
❖ Research Design: Utilised cognitive linguistics to understand how language shapes and is shaped by the way we perceive the world, focusing on how linguistic structures reflectcultural cognition.
❖ Methodology: Employed criterion-based sampling and semantic analysis of diverseliterary and everyday texts to map the connection between linguistic devices and culturalnorms for a comprehensive study in applied linguistics.
❖ Data: Collected and analysed texts that are rich in cultural content and linguistic devices(e.g., proverbs, idioms, metaphorical expressions, internet language) from both literaryand everyday language sources.
❖ Analysis: Used semantic and discourse analyses to decode the cultural significance of linguistic devices in selected texts, revealing their impact on shaping cultural norms.
❖ Outcome: Developed the Culturo-Linguistic Convergence Model (CLCM), a frameworkmapping the interplay between language, culture, and cognition.
